After a day of running around visiting relatives, today we spent most of the day being visited. After a minor revolt, we prepared another round of steam-boat, snacks, fried veggies and other dishes for visitors. So the people visiting could eat and enjoy as we talked with them mindlessly about this and that.
This event also brought up something that I do respect about my fiancee - she has a breaking point. I have a tendency to put up with quite a lot when family is involved (especially a family that I want to impress so they let me marry their daughter). But my fiancee won't take it after a while.
This came up today. Yesterday and the day before we spent most of the day running around, cooking and cleaning. We were all pretty beat and were looking forward to a relaxing morning, a bite to eat outside and then a few more trips around. Instead we got more cooking, cleaning and visiting. So my fiancee dug in her heels and revolted. And I loved her even more for it.
Sometime we should adjust to our family, but sometimes we should force our family to adjust to us.
