Feb 16, 10 - Last Day of Visiting + Wedding Local

Posted February 16, 2010

Garden DinnerThis morning after a quick breakfast, we finished the last few visits. As normal, I was the entertaining white-boy with two oranges at the front of the group doing the whole orange exchange + greeting thing.

A few dramas, canned drinks and snacks later, we were done and on to another serious matter - selecting the wedding location. We visited two places - one club-house and one golf-course when my fiancee informed me that we didn't have any other choices. The club-house + garden and pool was dramatically better than having the wedding in the middle of a shower of golf-balls, so the decision kind of made itself.

We are also quickly going far over our original budget. In the last few days we have already broke most of the rough estimates we made even with the 20% buffer. But this too is part of the fun - figure out the cost and then adjust until we have a reasonable budget.

Honestly, I was a bit irritated at the whole process as my partner seemed to be pretty convinced on how everything needed to be done and was influenced by an almost never-ending stream of advice from relatives and friends. Then I realized half way through a mini-argument, that the most important thing is that she has the wedding she wants, and I can avoid a whole lot of stress by just asking her to make the best decision and hand me the bills. So that is what I did.
